.) Become aware of your habits, thoughts, and feelings. The first step in making the changes you want is to become aware of and recognize what needs to be changed in the first place. Start by creating a journal so that you can document your daily eating habits, how hungry are you before you eat? How full are you afterwards? Document the foods and drinks you are having throughout the day, this is very useful tool to utilize for a while, not only will you notice the things that you are doing, but you will see what things make you feel a certain way and it will allow to learn and grow from that.

.) Change your perspective. If you are going to make lasting changes than you need to be open to new ideas, tastes, activities, and experiences. This all a part of the fun in the journey. You may come across things that you hate, but you also might come across a lot of new things that you will end up loving too. Don’t get stuck in your old ways, step a little outside of your comfort zone and try out life’s adventure.

.) Create goals, S.M.A.R.T. goals. Goals require a little bit of structure otherwise you are just procrastinating until another day. S – Specific goals, M – Measurable goals, A – Attainable goals, R – Relevant/realistic goals, T – Timely goals. Take your journey by the reigns and play a part in the life you are manifesting. You can achieve anything you set your mind and ambitions to.

.) Choose a form of exercise that you enjoy doing. It can be as simple as walking, or as complicated as learning a new martial art. Take the bicycle for a ride, go for a swim, join a local sports team, volunteer your time to habitat for humanity, go to the gym and find an aerobics or Zumba class. There are so many things you can do, just have to figure out what lights your fire and make it happen.

.) Honor your hunger. This goes along with becoming aware of your habits, honoring your hunger means that you are in tune with your body and its needs. When you feel hungry, are you feeding yourself something that your body can use for nourishment or are you just trying to get something down before your next meeting and who care what it is? When you eat, are you eating just enough to make you feel satiated or are you stuffing yourself to the brim and feel like to just want to plop on the couch and take a nap? Are you feeling and listening to your body’s ques?

.) Do not depend on anyone else to hold you accountable except yourself? These are your goals, and at the end of the day you are the only one who gets to reap the benefits of your hard work and dedication. There are parts of your journey when you will be alone and that is okay. You will be okay and you will be a stronger person for it in the end.

.) Stay consistent, but when you are not, don’t give up. Shit happens, that doesn’t mean you can’t get back on track and pick up right where you left off. It is about progress, not perfection. We are all living the human experience and it is ok to eff up now and then as long as you learn from it and grow from it.
